Dedalus
A European group with hospital records, laboratory and imaging.
A note from public sources, read on 4 November 2026. Nothing here was verified by using the product. Vendor claims are claims. This is not a product review, and "not found" means only that the sources read did not say.
What it is
Dedalus was founded in Florence in 1982 and says it has more than 7,700 staff in 40 countries. It bought DXC’s health business, completed in 2021. Products include ORBIS, ORBIS U and Lorenzo, which it announced in 2022 it would stop offering in the UK and Ireland.
Care settings
Acute care is its core. A Care Manager module covers community-style care. Emergency and primary care were not found.
Comparison
| Area | Dedalus | This project today |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Hospital EHR, plus laboratory, imaging and integrated care | Scaffold: identity, consent, allergies, observations, referrals, audit |
| Interoperability | HL7, FHIR and IHE claimed (vendor) | FHIR R4 and R5 reads for three resources; HL7 v2 ADT inbound |
| Mobile and patient access | Not found in the sources read | Mobile layout and patient portal not built |
Implications for this project
Undetected non-delivery is a key risk, so closed-loop tracking should extend to letters. Products are retired over time, so the record format and a migration path should be planned from the start.
