Compare
How this project differs from other electronic patient records, including where they are more advanced.
Established systems are in clinical use, and this project is a scaffold. This page compares approaches, not quality, and does not rank any system. Organisations that need a record for patient care today should use an established system.

The commercial column is a generalisation from public sources. Read it as typical, not as true of every product.
Where established systems are ahead
As of the project's own benchmark of twelve open-source systems (30 October 2026), other systems are substantially ahead on functionality. OpenEMR is certified in the US, OpenMRS is a long-established platform, and Medplum has its own certifications. Those systems also had operational strengths that this project was missing, such as published performance numbers. The benchmark names each gap.
Engineering practices
The same benchmark rated engineering practices (lint, census tests, audit refusal, provenance, a software bill of materials) at or above the comparison group. This describes code maintenance, not clinical readiness.
